I have observed and I might be off base...but I will put this out there....that Tahoe machines are tighter than reno machines overall....because reno caters to alot of locals....and Tahoe caters to almost all tourists. The tourists are worried about skiing, boating and hiking, partying in Tahoe and dont really care if the casino sucks their money dry. As long as the drinks keep coming and the party atmosphere continues.

Reno doesnt have touristy attractions. Just gambling. So I find the locals are a big part of the casinos.
They want local repeat business and give locals a better shot then the tahoe counterparts at slots.

I have no real evidence..just observational from experience

Does anyone think this is valid...and if so...what are examples of what may be considered "local" vegas casinos.
For example I have noticed that the Orleans has many poker tables going, and alot of local people there....a tougher crowd to beat...than the tourists you might find at the bigger casinos.

Any "local" vegas casinos for slots?

Or is this whole local clientelle vs tourists just total garbage.

The American Casino Guide site summarizes the reported numbers, updated June 2015.

Reno/Sparks is definitely superior, with penny slot paybacks of about 93%.

South Tahoe is 89%, slightly better than the 88% Vegas Strip.

The problem with identifying locals casinos is, the groupings aren't very specific. Boulder Strip is >90%, as is North Las Vegas.

Casinos with good video poker are probably more likely to offer good slots, but that's a complex assessment. For maximum value, you need to consider promotions. Boyd casinos (Gold Coast/Orleans/Sam's Town/Suncoast) occasionally offer 11x multipliers. Fiesta and Stations offer 10x. And Palms has multipliers and giveaways that can add over 2%.

Because locals tend to be sharper players, live poker may be easier at the tourist casinos, but I would guess that the locals poker rooms offer more aggressive promotions.

Even in Reno/ Sparks I think you will see large swings in numbers from property to properly. Just speculation but I would assume Harrahs is tighter than CalNeva across the street. Same thing with the larger resorts being tighter than say Baldini's.

I find it true about Harrahs,
Lest true with Atlantis....a larger newer hotel.

I have seen alot of hand payouts (including myself) at atlantis. But not so much at others.

Harrahs is horrid.
