Ever wondered about the progressive jackpots you always see in the land based and online casinos? Progressive jackpots can be some of the most enticing slots in the gambling world but also have different payout percentages and ways to best increase your odds of winning.

If you’ve ever walked through a Singaporean casino on land or even visited one online, you’re sure to have noticed the bright signs or tickers that are constantly counting up a dollar amount – usually a pretty big one – this is called the progressive jackpot. Progressive jackpots are obviously extremely alluring but can perhaps cause confusion for some of the not-so-savvy casino players out there.

A progressive jackpot is usually used on a slot machine or video poker machine and shows the running dollar amount of what a player would win should he or she hit the jackpot (the games top winning combination or hand). Progressive jackpots increase by a small amount with every game that is played with the amount being determined by the casino.

The progressive jackpot can climb to huge amounts (in the millions) as players continue to play with no jackpot winner. On the other hand, if you notice your favourite game has a low progressive; it could be because someone has already beaten you to the punch and winning the huge pot hereby resetting the progressive to the preset minimum level.

Progressive jackpots can also be linked together with other machines or across the internet. This allows for extremely large jackpots that grow more quickly as multiple players are contributing from multiple locations.

In order to win a progressive jackpot you usually need to read the ‘fine print’ of the game. Players usually need to wager the maximum number of credits per play in order to qualify to win the jackpot. However all bets, regardless if they are the maximum or not, would contribute to the progressive jackpot total.

There are several other games which offer progressive jackpots along with the standard video poker and slot machines. Caribbean stud poker often has a progressive which is won by the lucky player with the royal flush. Some online casinos also offer versions of blackjack, roulette and a few other games as progressives as well.

Several popular progressive jackpots in land based casinos include the Wheel-of-Fortune slot machine and Caribbean Stud Poker. There are several online progressives that have garnered huge popularity including the Mega Moolah and Millionaire’s Club slot machines, available at many online csinos in Singapore on the net.
